Suspension Bridge

A time comes when a man should cross a bridge
Not knowing whether the bridge will hold him-
You know even the strongest bridges sometimes give in-
And it is not the stepping off that gets him where he should go

Long time ago, I learned something crossing a bridge
Over a lovely river with waterfall views I had avoided
Under cables suspending all my rational mind:
I discovered that one's strength need not be one's own.
Simply taking another's offered hand can turn out to be
Everything that you will ever need ever again ever

Do not be afraid to let your fear find a friend's fingers
And in the crossing become instead surprise and awe
Vistas that feel like lost places become backdrops
In a cautionary tale thrown to the wind from a bridge
Suspended between two people who are holding on
